Direct Shipping Online Seminar Draws Huge, Diverse Crowd

October 16, 2008, Boulder, CO – Over 650 people from 38 states registered for the latest Direct Shipping Online Seminar presented by ShipCompliant, Wine Institute, FedEx and Wine Business Monthly. The topic of direct shipping compliance continues to be a complex one where wineries are looking for help getting started shipping or making their current shipping program more efficient and compliant. All materials, including a video recording and podcast, are now available online[http://www.shipcompliant.com/events] following the October 16th Direct Shipping Online Seminar for Wineries.

Materials Available Online

This valuable seminar was free to all winery attendees, and the post-seminar materials are available online to anyone. Wine Institute Director of State Relations and wine industry direct shipping expert, Steve Gross, anchored the panel with his state-by-state legislative update. Adding timely information on Wisconsin's new direct shipping permit program that took effect on October 1st was Tom Ourada from the WI DOR.

Online Format Draws from 38 States

Geographic diversity could only be achieved using ShipCompliant's innovative 'virtual seminar' approach where attendees, and even panelists, are geographically distributed across the US and connect via a web presentation and audio conference call. One attendee's comments (with an unintended pun) highlight the useful content and convenient format. “Thank you so much. You've virtually eliminated my workload!” says Liz Cohen, Compliance Manager at Kirkland Ranch Winery in Napa.

Wine Clubs at Risk in Current Economic Conditions

Attendees were appreciative of not only the lack of participation fee, but also the cost savings on not having to travel to a physical event at a time when costs are being closely watched. Recent econonmic conditions may also have contributed to continually growing interest in direct shipping compliance. Almost 40% of winery attendees who answered an online poll during the presentation chose 'attrition of wine club' as their most pressing issue resulting from recent economic conditions. Being able to ship direct to as many states as possible is a critical component to customer satisfaction. Keeping this process cost-effective and compliant will help wineries continue to delight their wine club customers.

Compliance Experts Came to Learn

Attendee diversity also extended to types of companies seeking this information, including technology providers, law firms, shippers, and even experts who are in the business of winery compliance, such as Sandy O'Halloran of Wine Industry Compliance Services. Her feedback included the following statements: "The webinars that you do are excellent. This one was no exception. I always learn something new."

Just in Case You Missed it...

For those who couldn't make it, or couldn't write it all down, ShipCompliant has made the presentations as well as a video recording of the web presentations and audio call available on their website at http://www.shipcompliant.com/events.
